Students missing their dogs or feeling stressed on Tuesday got a treat this week as Alpha Sigma Alpha (ASA) hosted Dogs on the Quad to raise money for their local philanthropy. Alpha Sigma Alpha tries to host Dogs on the Quad once a semester and this was their 5th event.
ASA and Dogs on the Quad raised money for the Humane Society of the High Plains which is their local philanthropic partner. The Special Olympics and Girls on the Run are national partners with ASA and FHSU’s chapter also raises money, awareness, and volunteers for them.
Most of the dogs at the event were owned by a chapter member but anyone was invited to big their fur-babies to hang out. Freshman Aiden Johnson brought her dog Tansy, a 4-year-old Australian Shepard.
“She loves belly rubs, she loves them, she’ll just run up to you and fall flat on her back trying to get one, anything for pets,” Johnson said. Tansy and the other dogs certainly got plenty of love and attention as well as belly rubs as students stopped on their way to class.
Alpha Sigma Alpha is also currently recruiting members to join their sorority this semester. ASA is dedicated to developing women of poise and purpose. The sorority’s motto is to aspire, seek and attain (ASA).
