STORY AND PHOTOS BY ALLIE SCHWEIZER

The Kansas State Fair is held every year at the State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson and this year it kicked off the fun on Sep. 6th and ran for 10 days until Sep 15th. The fair is known for its fair foods, entertainment, rides, concerts and fun for the entire family and people of all ages.  This year was a success as the weather stayed nice all week and there were plenty of new things to see and do.

Some of this year’s fair highlights included the Bobby Bones and the Raging Idiots concert with Sterling native Nicolle Galyon. There was also a concert and meet and greet with the beloved Walmart yodeling internet sensation Mason Ramsey. Some new rides included the Banzai and the new roller coaster ride the Bullet Train in replace of the old water ride.

Then of course the fair classics that include going to watch the Demolition Derby and Tractor Pull. Riding the giant Ferris Wheel and the giant slide. Getting the classic $2 root beer found at every corner and trying the new Jumbo Corn Dog from the Pronto Pun stands. Checking out the ice cream flavor of the year, Peach, under the grandstands at the Dairy Bar.  Taking a camel ride at the Hedricks petting zoo or a ride on the train, boats or through the Ye Ole Mill.

This  year was the 108th year of “Celebrating all things Kansas” at the Kansas State Fair. Hutchinson is proud to host the state fair and keep this part of Kansas History alive.
