The Hays High boys’ soccer team hosted their first home WAC game on Thursday, September 19 going up against the Dodge City Red Demons. With only two returning starters, the Indians are starting fresh this season with a lot of underclassmen in the lineup.
The Indians played a solid first half taking the Red Demons by surprise only allowing them to score halfway through the first half making it 1-0. The Indians had several attempts to score in the first half but struggled to finish each time. Hays High trailed 1-nil at halftime.
At the start of the 2nd half, Dodge City quickly scored in the first 7 minutes. Hays High goalie, Tucker Johnson had many stops in the second half holding the demons to 2 until the 10-minute mark, where Dodge City Scored their third goal of the game. Dodge again scored with 5 minutes left of the game making the final score 4-0.
The Indians will move on with a record of 2-6 and will play rival Great Bend at home on Tuesday, September 24.
