One of the most notable wide receivers in the NFL, Antonio Brown faces multiple charges in lawsuits dating back to 2017.
The most recent lawsuit was filed Tuesday by a woman who worked as Brown’s trainer. Britney Taylor was a gymnast at Central Michigan before being hired by Brown, and recently has pressed charges for three separate incidents of sexual assault while the two were working together.
The lawsuit falls only one day after Brown was released from the Raiders and transferred to the Patriots, in whirlwind fashion.
Brown was deemed to be one of the most valuable players in the Raiders’ offense, however, but was noted to be a chaotic force on the team. Brown recently was fined by the team for missing walk-throughs and practices, for which he took to social media in hopes to shame his coaches.
This, however, had the opposite effect, where fans and colleagues stated he should “just play football.” The situation took a drastic downfall when Brown confronted his coach at a practice, calling him a “cracker,” undermining his authority in front of the team.
Brown also claimed to have gotten hypothermia in a cryogenic chamber, resulting in a foot injury keeping him out of training camp. The final straw for the team came when he was denied the ability to wear a certain helmet model.
The Raiders agreed to release Brown to the Patriots, where he would be inactive Week 1 but could return for their second game.
Now, Brown is facing more pressing matters than a missed practice. In a press release, Brown’s lawyer stated all charges have been denied, and all legal remedies will be pursued in order to restore his name and reputation.
The statement also said Taylor’s lawsuit was solely driven by financial compensation. However, Taylor’s side says it has photo and text message evidence of two specific incidents.
In one incident, Brown is accused of exposing himself to Taylor and kissing her without permission. In the second, more vulgar and aggressive accusation, Taylor has accused Brown of masturbating and ejaculating on her while the two met for a therapy session in his home.
Following these two incidents, Taylor removed Brown from her life in all capacities, but was swayed back in when he insisted he apologize for his previous actions.
It was then that Brown allegedly pushed Taylor onto her own bed and raped her. Taylor stated she was convinced he had changed and was willing to accept an apology, but faced her worst fear as he once more took advantage of her.
An NFL spokesman has stated that while they take these allegations seriously, they will make no comments until further investigation has taken place. The court has begun action on the case and will release further information once obtained.
