Hays High Football 1st Annual Jamboree

STORY BY JAYCEE DALE

Hays High football kicked off their football season with the 1st annual jamboree held in Salina. Salina South hosted the jamboree with four teams including Hays, Salina South, Wichita North, and Abilene. Second-year head coach, Tony Crough hoped that this scrimmage would help the boys get the first game jitters out of the way before their first home game against Junction City on Friday, September 6.

Although the jamboree was not a win-lose situation Crough believed that his team played well, but also saw some mistakes that they can correct before their first game on Friday.  The team has been preparing for this season by bringing in a new offensive coordinator to the team and running and learning new plays and schemes.

With this being Crough’s second season as head coach at Hays High he felt like the team got a lot of constructive workouts during the summer and at practice preparing the team for this season.  Crough’s goals for this season is about getting better every day and to improve game to game and take care of the things on their own by improving daily. Crough and his senior leaders believe that a better record is in store for the team, but their main focus is showing improvement and getting better on and off the field.

Crough believes that his football team has a good chance of being really good. They have a lot of young talent with tons of speed and aggression.
