The Catholic Campus Center has a lot of different ways for Catholic students to get involved. They have had their Ice Cream Social for the past several years and it has been very successful. The students come together after their first day of classes to relax, play some yard games, and get to know one another.
The Ice Cream Social was opened up with a prayer and introductions for the President, Priests, and several others that have a big part at the center. Everyone gathered around and had the opportunity to meet new people that will influence the Catholic students over the next few years of school. The students then mingled and played corn hole, basketball, and spike ball.
On Wednesday the 21st the Catholic Disciples met and Father Jarett Konrade, who has been a part of the Campus Center for five years, stated that this year was the largest crowd of Catholic Disciples that he has seen. About half of the students there were freshmen or transfer students who were ready to continue with their faith.
The Catholic Campus Center has weekday and weekend mass and confession times open to the students. There is also Catholic Disciples every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. The center is also open from 5 a.m. to around midnight for students to go and study, relax, and hang out with friends. It is located east of Sheridan Hall on 6th street.
The Ice Cream Social was a huge success this year and continues to get even better throughout the years. It proves to be a great way to meet Catholic students and to relax after their first day of classes!
