Five Tigers Earn USTFCCCA All-Central Region Honors For 2019 Outdoor Season

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Just ahead of the 2019 installment of the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships, five Fort Hays State track and field athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Central Region Team. Four male athletes and one female from the Tigers landed on the list released Tuesday (May 14) from the USTFCCCA headquarters.

The top-five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to the top-three relay teams in each event. The regions include the Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West. A total of 1,831 member institutions with 926 men’s programs and 905 women’s programs made the mention.

Philip Landrum and Brett Meyer led the way for FHSU with both gathering two spots on the list. Landrum earned his honor in the 200-meters where he ranks No. 24 on the national performance list with a time of 21.07, and in the 100-meters where he sits at No. 32 with a time of 10.52.

Meyer earns his two mentions in both the 800-meters (1:51.45) and the 1,500-meters (3:44.18). Meyer ranks No. 4 in the 1,500-meters where he has earned an automatic qualification, as well as sits at No. 30 in the 800-meters.

Freshman shot-putter Gilbert Peters was named All-Central Region with his best throw of 53 feet, 8 inches – good enough to place him at No. 60 on the national performance list. Rounding out the mentions for the men is Ryan Stanley who is recognized for his pole vault of 16 feet, 9 inches, a mark that places his at No. 10 in NCAA DII.

Alexcia Deutscher is the lone Tiger female to earn a spot on the All-Central Region team. Deutscher ranks No. 7 on the performance list as she threw for 160 feet, 2 inches.

The 2019 NCAA DII national qualifiers will be announced Tuesday (May 14) in the afternoon.
