Fort Hays State Softball continues MIAA play this weekend in Missouri at Central Missouri and Southwest Baptist. The Tigers play UCM on Friday in Warrensburg at 2 pm, then SBU on Saturday at 12 pm in Bolivar.
The Tigers are right in the thick of the race for the MIAA Tournament, entering the weekend tied for seventh in the standings. The top eight teams in the MIAA will qualify for the tournament, set for May 1-4 in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Tigers are among several teams fighting for the last few spots in the conference tournament.
Fort Hays State is currently in a three-way tie for seventh with Lindenwood and Pittsburg State. The three teams are only one game back of sixth-place Emporia State in the standings, but only one game ahead of Missouri Southern and Nebraska-Kearney.
Fort Hays State picked up a midweek doubleheader sweep of Newman University on Wednesday and enters the weekend on a three-game win streak. The Tigers are 19-18 overall and 10-10 in the MIAA. Central Missouri enters Friday also on a three-game win streak. The Jennies are 26-16 overall and 10-6 in the MIAA. Southwest Baptist enters the weekend at 5-40 overall and 2-16 in the MIAA. The Bearcats will face Nebraska-Kearney on Friday before hosting FHSU on Saturday.
