Christopher Olds, assistant professor in the department of political science at Fort Hays State, was published in Research in Social Change.
“Bricks and Bombast: U.S. Presidential Economic Cheerleading in Response to the Housing Market” provides statistical evidence of U.S. presidents using more optimistic rhetoric when describing domestic economic conditions.
This paper is published in an academic journal that is reviewed by other scholars for making an original contribution to knowledge.
The article supports the theoretical proposal that U.S. presidents often use the prominence of the office of the presidency to reflect and reinforce information regarding specific components of the economy.
Olds’ paper was published this spring in Vol. 11, Issue 1, of Research in Social Change.
