Baseball prepares to hit road against Bearcats

Fort Hays State baseball begins a three-game road trip this weekend (April 5-7) when they take on Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo. The Tigers enter the conference series 3-24 overall and 2-16 in MIAA action, while the Bearcats sit at 14-15 overall and 10-8 in conference play. First pitch on Friday is slated for 3 p.m. from Bearcat field.

The Tigers are 23-31 all-time against the Bearcats, with a 6-17 record in Maryville. The Bearcats have won six of the last seven, with the last FHSU victory coming in 2018 in Hays.

Taylan Mullins-Ohm leads the offensive attack with a .411 batting average in 56 at-bats and ranked first in homeruns (2), while ranking second on the team in RBI (10). Landon Erway paces the Tigers with 31 hits and Ryan Grasser leads the way in RBI with 18.

Connor Quick paces the Bearcats in batting average (.376), slugging percentage (.578), runs (26), hits (41), doubles (10) and triples (three). On the flip side, Quintin Van Ackeren leads the starting pitching staff in earned run average (4.69), innings pitched (48.0) and strikeouts (42).
