BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Fort Hays State women’s tennis team remains in the hunt for their first MIAA win after suffering a 6-1 loss on the road to Southwest Baptist. With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 3-7 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Bearcats improve to 6-4 overall following the conference win.
At the No. 1 singles position, Laura Jimenez-Lendinez fell 1-6, 1-6 to Jill Van Den Dungen, while Natalie Lubbers in the No. 2 position took the 0-6, 0-6 loss to Constanca Crespo. Lauren Lindell droped a 1-6, 2-6 loss to Klara Vickov in fours, while Ellea Ediger fell to Diana Cabrera 1-6, 1-6. In the five position, Haley Weidemann gave up a match to Sarah Brown 1-6, 1-6. The lone singles win for the Tigers came at the racket of Nicole Lubbers who earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Emma Davis.
In doubles play, the duo of Nicole Lubbers and Jimenez-Lendinez won in a 6-2 contest to Brown and Davis at the No. 3 doubles. In the No. 1 position, Natalie Lubbers and Lindell suffered a shutout 0-6 loss to Van Den Dungen and Vickov, while the No. 2 slot of Macy Moyers and Ediger were defeated 2-6 by Cabrera and Crespo.
The Tigers continue their Missouri road trip with a conference match at Lindenwood. The first serve in St. Charles is set for 11 a.m.
