Baseball moves home series to Emporia

By FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION

The Fort Hays State baseball team has been forced to move another home series away from Larks Park due to snow accumulation and future forecast. Instead of hosting Emporia State in a three-game series this weekend (March 8-10), the Tigers (1-13, 1-5) will travel to play the Hornets (6-6, 4-2) in Emporia, Kan.

The games are tentatively scheduled for a 2 p.m. start on Friday, a 3 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and a noon finale on Sunday. Stay tuned to fhsuathletics.com for any additional schedule changes.

This will be the third straight weekend that the Tigers will play a conference series in a separate venue from the original schedule. FHSU opened the league schedule against Missouri Western in Edmond, Okla. before moving its home series against Southwest Baptist to Bolivar, Mo. last weekend.

The Tigers are 68-113 all-time against the Hornets, including taking one of three games in Emporia a year ago.

Fort Hays State enters the weekend with a .244 team batting average, ranking ninth in the MIAA. Emporia State ranks 11th in that category with a mark of .235. Landon Erway ranks ninth in the league among qualified hitters with a .371 batting average while Emporia State’s Jake Barton ranks 10th among qualified pitchers with a 2.45 ERA.
