Fort Hays State will recognize seniors Tatyana Legette and Carly Heim during their final regular season home game.
The Tigers (26-1, 17-1) and Gorillas (21-6, 13-5) met in Pittsburg just over three weeks ago, with the Tigers coming away with their first road win against PSU in nearly a decade, 78-53. Taylor Rolfs matched her career high with 17 points while Tatyana Legette added a double-double (12p, 11r).
Fort Hays State holds a slim 28-27 lead in the all-time series with Pittsburg State after winning the last three contests. The Tigers are 16-9 at home against the Gorillas. FHSU is 7-13 overall and 4-4 at home against PSU under Hobson. A win Saturday would give the Tigers two wins over PSU in a single regular season for the first time since 1988-89.
A win Saturday would give the Tigers 18 conference wins this season. That number has been reached by an MIAA team seven times since the Tigers joined the league in 2006-07, two of which were Fort Hays State teams. No other institution has reached 18 league victories in a single regular season more than once in that timeframe.
Pittsburg State heads into the final day of the regular season in a four-way tie for third in the MIAA standings. The Gorillas could finish anywhere from second to sixth based on how things shake out across the conference Saturday. PSU ranks third in the league in scoring differential, averaging 73.4 points per game while allowing 63.8 points each night. The Gorillas lead the league in three-point shooting, knocking down 36.4 percent from behind the arc. Kaylee DaMitz leads the conference with an average of 4.7 assists per outing. Maya Williams is one of three Gorillas averaging in double figures in scoring, recording a team-best 11.9 points each contest.
