Tiger Pals once again organizing Night to Shine

By TRYSTAN KNAPP

For the second year in a row, Fort Hays State University’s Tiger Pals is working together with the Tim Tebow Foundation to host Night to Shine, a prom-night experience for people ages 14 and older with special needs and disabilities.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Celebration Community Church.

Tiger Pals is a volunteer organization that assists individuals with special needs and disabilities by enhancing their physical, social and mental well-being through engaging activities. Other than the Tim Tebow Foundation, Tiger Pals is also teaming up with local organizations such as The Arc of the Central Plains, Celebration Community Church and the Hays Recreation Commission for the event.

“The smiles, joy and love that I saw these individuals experience last year is definitely the driving force behind keeping the event going,” said Drew Gannon, one of the Night to Shine event coordinators.

Although the volunteer registration for the event is closed, the Night to Shine crew still is looking for people to help set up the event on Thursday. If you are interested in helping, email haysnightoshine@gmail.com for more information.
