Northeastern State still seeks its first MIAA win of the season after a tough one-point loss to Missouri Western back on Saturday. The RiverHawks had a chance to tie the game with 0.3 seconds remaining, but hit only one of two free throws to come up a point short. Other than a 105-70 blowout loss to No. 2 ranked Northwest Missouri State, the RiverHawks have lost by an average of five points in their three other losses.
Fort Hays State has won the last three meetings with Northeastern State going back to the 2016-17 season. The Tigers swept the regular season series with the RiverHawks last year, winning in double overtime in Tahlequah before a seven-point win in Hays. The Tigers have won the last four meetings between the teams in Hays.
Brady Werth continues to lead the Tigers in scoring at 15.5 points per game and rebounding at 6.8 per game. He reached double figures in the last four games and recorded his second double-double of the season in points and rebounds against Southwest Baptist last week. Marcus Cooper averages 13.4 points per game, while Aaron Nicholson averages 10.8 per game. Kyler Kinnamon dishes out a team-high 5.0 assists per game.
