UPDATE: Multiple suspects were taken into custody in south Hays after 3 p.m. Thursday.
UPDATE: Hays High School is no longer on lockdown as of approximately 2:30 p.m. and will have normal release time Thursday.
The Hays Police Department continues to help in the investigation of a suspected armed robbery in Russell County.
The Hays PD said an alleged armed robbery was reported in the small town of Gorham earlier Thursday. Officials were following up on the suspect Thursday afternoon as the investigation continued.
An official with the Russell County Sheriff’s Office said the department had no information to report on the allegations as of 1:40 p.m.
Hays Middle School was put on lockdown for approximately 15 minutes Thursday to ensure the safety of its students. No classes were interrupted during the lockdown.
Lockdown also was in place at Hays High School for the safety of its students.
