Man arrested for allegations involving teen

A Colorado man is facing charges involving alleged inappropriate actions with a teenager in mid-November.

On Nov. 18, the Hays Police Department received a report that Shannon D. Long Jr., now 22 from Denver, had been contacting a teenager through social media in order to meet up with the 14-year-old female.

Investigators learned Long allegedly had been in contact with the teen prior to Nov. 18 as well.

Long was arrested and charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child, criminal sodomy, electronic solicitation, two counts of indecent solicitation of a child and possession of marijuana.

The electronic solicitation charge involves an alleged incident Nov. 18 via SnapChat, and one indecent solicitation charge involved an allegation from Nov. 13. The aggravated indecent liberties with a child , criminal sodomy and one of the indecent solicitation of a child charges were all from Nov. 14 allegations.

The possession of marijuana charge stems from a search warrant that was issued Nov. 19 by investigators.

Long posted bond and was released from the Ellis County Jail. His next court proceedings in the case are scheduled for January.

Long was a member of the Fort Hays State University football team and played limited minutes this past season. He is no longer listed on the roster.
