Student Government Association Hold Weekly Meeting

STORY BY LARAMIE MOYER

The first meeting of October commenced at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 4th. The meeting had numerous senators present and they swore in a new member named Bradley DeMers. This is significant because there are only 19 students currently in the SGA with the possibility of having 40. It is expected to add another two senators October 11th.

The meeting lasted about 45 minutes and the major concern was over the funding guide. The funding guide was created for the student organization so that they would know the protocol that SGA follows to distribute funding. Over the last few years, the language has been edited to sound more like formal rules that both the organization and the students should follow in regards to requesting and receiving funding for specific events or activities.

The document was changed so there wouldn’t any more contradictory language. Making this the one funding document to where it can be changed regularly in the case there is inflation or changing policies is important because bylaws only change once a year sometimes cause difficulties.

The Student Government Association will meet again tomorrow evening.
