WICHITA, Kan. – The Fort Hays State men’s golf team finished sixth at the Newman Fall Invitational (Oct. 1-2), hosted at Crestview Country Club. Senior Mac McNish led the Tigers with identical rounds of 74 in the first two rounds before finishing with a 76 in the third round to post an 8-over (224) and finished solo 11th individually.
Bryce Cowan posted rounds of 78, 76 and 79 to finish in a tie for 24th. Connor Schultz finished in a tie for 26th after carding identical rounds of 77 before finishing with a 80. Marcus Willey fired off rounds of 83, 77 and 80 to finish in a tie for 33rd. Isaiah Grover shot rounds of 85, 81 and 76. Reese Emert posted rounds of 78, 76 and 75 for a total score of 229 to lead all individuals.
Southeastern Oklahoma State took the team title with an aggregate score of 867. Newman finished second with a score of 882 and Rogers State (891) finished third. Fort Hays State finished sixth as a team with a score of 312-304-311 for a total of 927. Zach James of Southeastern Oklahoma State claimed the individual title after posting a 10-under (206) score for the tournament.
The Tigers will have two weeks off before they compete at the Blue Tiger Invite (Oct. 15-16). The event is set to be hosted at Jefferson City Country Club.
