I’ve been very excited for the last several weeks ever since I learned in the Center for Student Involvement Office that two well-established names in U.S. politics are coming to Fort Hays State University campus on Monday, to discuss current public policies.
Kicking off the Sebelius Lecture Series, former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum and former Vermont Governor Howard Dean will hash out policies which include health care, economics, and other issues in a presentation named “The Proper Role of Government in a Free Society.” The debate-style event has me in a stupor, because I never thought that FHSU could manage to bring in such prominent names to campus.
I urge anyone who has a slight interest in American public policies to come out and attend this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
I have been thoroughly intrigued an involved in politics since a young age. I currently serve on the Student Government Association, and it is one of my dreams to serve as a public official. Having such an opportunity to observe two large, but unsuccessful Presidential candidates duke it out over national hot topics is a rarity that I dare not miss.
I have already planned to attend every Sebelius Lecture Series event, and I invite anyone, regardless of political stance, to join me in relishing the wonderful opportunities that FHSU is presenting. You can also check out other events and Sebelius Lecture Series presentations on the FHSU website.
