Dept. of Informatics to Host Cyber Security Month Events

October is on the way, bringing Cyber Security Month with it. This year the Department of Informatics will be hosting two events to educate students on good cyber security practices and give them an introduction to security basics.

On October 11th Professor Jason Zeller will then speak on his experiences in the cyber security field and discuss the skills and tools needed to participate in the cyber security challenge on Octover 25th. Free pizza will be provided at the event.

On October 25th the Dept. of Informatics will host a Cyber Security challenge featuring introductions to hackthissite.org and the linux-teaching browser-based war game, Over the Wire. Students will also be able to participate in a hands-on attack and defense challenge in the Hammond Hall networking lab (Room 104). There will be free pizza and drinks for all those attending!

All students from every major are encouraged and welcome to attend. Both events will be held in Hammond Hall room 104 at 6:00 P.M.
