KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Fort Hays State men’s soccer team enters the 2018 season tabbed first in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday (Aug. 21). Last season the Tigers claimed the conference title with a 7-1 record for the first time in school history. Northeastern State sits in the second spot, while Lindenwood rounds out the top three.
The Tigers are looking to win back-to-back conference championships for the first time in program history. FHSU was one match short of their fourth consecutive NCAA Central Regional championship in 2017, when they fell to conference rival Northeastern State in the Regional final by a score of 2-1 after allowing the go-ahead goal in the final minute of regulation.
The first regular season action for the Tigers will take place on Friday (Aug. 31) at 7 p.m. when FHSU hosts McKendree University for just the second meeting in school history. The Tigers travel to Rockhurst University on Sunday (Sept. 2).
