BY LEXI GROSS
As if October wasn’t already the spookiest month of the year, now it is also getting the unluckiest day as well. Friday the 13th is making its return, and scaredy cats are already planning for their misfortune. But instead of locking yourself in your room afraid of what might happen, why don’t we charge this day with full force? There are plenty of events that could keep you awake and instead of worrying about Friday the 13th, can get you celebrating instead.
One of the most talked movies that has been plastering social media is “Happy Death Day”. This movie follows Tree Gelbman, a self-centered college student who wakes up on her birthday in the bed of a student named Carter. As the day goes on, Tree feels like she is having deja vu and has already experienced this day. When a masked killer takes her life, she magically wakes back up in Carter’s room unharmed. Now, a frightened Tree must keep reliving the same day over and over until she can find out who her killer is. This mystery/thriller is set to premiere in theaters Friday the 13th. You can catch it at AMC Hays Theater at 1:25 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 7:25 p.m., and 10:35 p.m.
Looking for something more adventurous and puzzling to do this Friday? Then you might want to check out Escape Hays. Here, you step through a door and you’re transported into a new world, one where you and your friends are racing the clock to try and escape the multiple unique rooms by solving puzzles. This Friday they are offering a special scenario for all escapees. For your escape rooms, you have the option of staying in Room 1867, becoming a spy on a CIA mission, or helping out the infamous Blue Light Lady by staying in a haunted house. If you think you have what it takes to escape this Friday the 13th, then check out Escape Hays at 1506 Vine street.
