On behalf of the Hays Convention and Visitors Bureau, please find the following special events and happenings for August 2017

August 4-5. -Enjoy polka, food, entertainment, and more at the
35th Annual Herzogfest in Victoria. There will be plenty of fun for any age including sports tournaments, a 5K, and the Herzogfest Rod, Custom, and Cycle Show!

For racing fans, there will be Regular Races at RPM Speedway August 12 and August 26 at 7 PM. Running the IMCA Mods, Stocks, Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks, Sport Compacts and Cruisers.

August 25 -The Hays Arts Council’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Exhibition titled, “50”, begins and will be open to the public through October 4 at the Hays Arts Center.

Fall Art Walk, in downtown Hays where businesses transform to showcase local artwork. This event is free to the public and will be held August 25 from 6:30-9:30 PM.

The March2Main event on August 31 from 5:30-8 PM. Students from FHSU, NCK Tech, and Hays Academy of Hair Design will be led to Main Street from the FHSU Quad where food, music, and Downtown businesses await. Hosted by Hays Convention & Visitors Bureau and Downtown Hays!

The Youth Outdoor Fest is a great opportunity for kids to enjoy a day of free target shooting, outdoor sports, demonstrations, and hunter safety education. Along with these activities, a free lunch will be provided. Everyone has an opportunity to win prizes as well! This event will be held at the Hays Sportsmen’s Club on August 19 from
9 AM-3 PM.

Starting at 1 PM on August 26 Mark Eberle of FHSU will present his newly published book “Kansas Baseball 1858 – 1941” at Historic Fort Hays. Following this, there will be a vintage baseball game played with 1860s rules, attendance is free, so bring the family for a fun filled afternoon!

The FHSU Cross Country Alumni Run will be on August 26 at 9:30 AM at Sand Plum Nature Trail in Victoria.

FHSU Men’s Soccer Exhibition Games will be held at the Fort Hays State University Soccer Stadium on August 19 at 7:30 PM, August 25 at 7 PM, and August 31 at 6 PM.

The Hays Public Library will host a free folk music concert performed by The Hollands!, A touring family based in the US but originally from Australia. This concert will be held on August 3 at 6 PM in the Schmidt Gallery.

The library will also welcome George Frazier, the author of The Last Wild Places of Kansas on August 19 at 1 PM in the Schmidt Gallery.

Exhibits that are open include
-“Permian Monsters” at Sternberg Museum until September 4th
-“Where Buffalo Roam” and “Wild Bill Hickok” at the Ellis County Historical Museum until September 30th.
