NEW ORLEANS – Fort Hays State Men’s Track and Field had four athletes pick up All-Central Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday (Feb. 28). The four recipients included Dillando Allotey, Decano Cronin, Brett Meyer, and Kolt Newell.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned the all-region distinction, in addition to each regions’ top-3 relay teams. The regions for this award include – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West.
Allotey picked up the honor in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.32 seconds. The time for Allotey is the top time in the Central Region and the eighth-best in the nation.
Both Cronin and Meyer earned the award in the 800-meter run, posting times of 1:48.72 and 1:48.89 respectively. Cronin’s time is the fastest in the region and second in the nation while Meyer’s time places him right behind his teammate in both categories.
Newell earned his all-region honor in the high jump when he cleared 6 feet, 9.5 inches back on Jan. 28 at the Pittsburg State Invitational. The mark for Newell is the fifth-best in the region and ties him for 20th in the nation.
