FHSU Men Reach Century Mark; Use Big Second Half to Cruise Past Bethel

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State moved to 7-3 overall on the season with a 102-63 win over Bethel College (Kan.) on Wednesday evening (Dec. 14). Up by just five at halftime, Fort Hays State outscored Bethel 62-28 in the second half for the 39-point win.

Fort Hays State never trailed in the game, although a 12-point lead was cut down to one at the 5:06 mark of the first half. The Tigers opened the second half on a 12-0 run and never looked back, leading by double figures the remainder of the game. The Tigers shot a sizzling 67.6 percent from the field in the second half (25-of-37), which included a 9-of-14 effort beyond the arc.

Rob Davis led the Tigers with 30 points, reaching 30 or more points in a game for the fourth time this season. It’s also the second time this season he’s scored at least 30 in back-to-back games. He upped his season scoring average to 24 points per game with the effort. Davis was 12-of-19 from the field with six 3-point field goals. He also pulled down a season-high seven rebounds.

Hadley Gillum produced his third double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Lake Reed scored a new season-high 15 points on an efficient 7-of-8 night from the field. Kyler Kinnamon dished out a team-best seven assists. All 12 Tigers that played scored and

Deven Goodwin led the Threshers in scoring with 26 points, hitting eight field goals and 10 free-throws. Austin Mitchell was the only other Bethel player in double figures with 13 points. FHSU held Bethel to just 36.8 percent shooting for the game.

Fort Hays State heads to Boulder, Colorado for an exhibition with the University of Colorado on Saturday (Dec. 17). Game time is set for 12 pm Mountain Time, 1 pm Central Time. The game will be broadcast on the Pac 12 Network.
