With Thanksgiving break coming to a close and the last few weeks of the semester revving up, US 4 U Lutheran Church group made it their mission to add joy to these stressful holiday times.
Students from the group organized and executed a merry holiday bake sale, the fun all started on Saturday, Dec. 3, with the messy baking day.
Students met at Trinity Lutheran Church around 2:00 p.m. loaded with flour, sugar, eggs, and more, storming the ovens to create delicious holiday treats.
However, after the long day of baking, a break from the hustle and bustle was well deserved.
The students were served pizza and enjoyed a movie night.
But the work had just begun, the next day on Sunday, the students met at Trinity Lutheran Church and carpooled to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Russell to partake in the annual Russell’s Gifts from the Heart Bazaar.
From cookies to cakes, there was something for everyone to enjoy and the desserts sold like hot cakes, students worked hard to sell everything they had baked before closing up shop at 2:00 p.m.
The bake sale was a unique opportunity for the students of US 4 U to participate in the holiday season activities.
All proceeds were put towards funding a mission trip to Iglesia Luterana de la Ressurreccion Church in Garden City, KS.
Overall, the bake sale was a great turn out, it not only helped the students bond through their faith, but it also gave them something to look forward to in the spring.
