The Fort Hays State Department of Music and Theater put on a show at the first Thursday of each month In the Memorial Union Sunset Lounge. This month they showcased a snippet from Showboat, a musical about a boat that puts on shows. They performed songs such as Oh listen sister, Life Upon the Wicked Stage, and Goodbye my Lady Love.
The preview was to promote the show and generate a buzz for people who may not know about it. Showboat begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October sixth, seventh, and eighth.
A matinee performance will be at 2:30 on Sunday, October ninth in the Felten Stark Theatre in Malloy Hall.
“Show Boat” follows three generations of people on a boat sailing on the Mississippi River and is based on the award-winning novel by Edna Ferber.
Tomme Williams is directing the show and Dr. Terry Crull, the Associate Professor of Music and Theatre, is the director of music.
The tickets are fifteen dollars for the public, and ten dollars for seniors as well as students. Season tickets are available for fifty dollars for the public, thirty dollars for students, and twenty five dollars for senior citizens.
