FHSU Department of Modern Languages Hosts Cultural Events

Curious about foreign films and looking for opportunities to expand your horizons, the Department of Modern Languages has an event for you. The first event in the German film series will take place Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. in Albertson 169.

For their premier event the series will show Kokowääh, the story of Henry, a writer who “has had a run of bad luck in both his love life and his work life,” according to the departmental press release.

“He is offered work on adapting a bestseller with the author, who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, Catherine. He also happens to be in love with her. Then, an 8-year-old girl, who happens to be the daughter he didn’t know he had, turns up on his doorstep,” the release said.

The department also sponsors “Kaffeestunde,” translated means “coffee” and “study,” according to the release.

The Kafeestunde’s are held at 5 p.m. Tuesdays behind Starbucks in the Memorial Union. The department would like to invite “students, faculty and members of the Hays community,” according to the release. The events are free to attend.
