Men’s Soccer Heads To North Dakota to Meet Mary

FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION DEPARTMENT

The 19th-ranked Fort Hays State men’s soccer team heads to Bismarck, N.D. on Sunday (Sept. 25) for a 3:30 pm matchup with the University of Mary. The Tigers enter the Sunday matinee with an overall record of 3-2-1, while the Marauders are 5-4.

The Tigers have cut a path all over the United States early in the season. From Kansas City, to the Mexico border in Texas, to the Pacific Ocean coastline in Washington, and now North Dakota, the Tigers look to continue picking up key road wins in an effort to return to the NCAA Tournament for a fifth straight year and defend the Central Regional crown for a third straight year.

The Tigers’ offensive success this season has been a collaborative effort. Ten different Tigers have found the back of the net this season and seven Tigers have recorded at least one assist. Maurizio Costa has been a major factor in the offense setting up teammates all year long. He leads the MIAA with six assists.

The Marauders started off the season 4-0 but have slowed down significantly losing four of their last five. Jordan Pearce is the main offensive threat for Mary with four goals on the season. Marc Carreras has added three goals, while Guilherme da Silva, Marc Hernandez and Jakob Olsson have chipped in two goals each.
