Sunset Harbinger, the Los Angeles-based eight-piece Ambient Indie/Future-Pop supergroup, lives for the eclectic. Each member of the psychedelia-laden electro band has spent his or her life traveling the world, gaining knowledge of and appreciation for many cultures, infusing it into their writing and expression. Lyrically, they explore the circumstances of the human quest for love and companionship, the band name even being a reference to the journey of self-discovery and exploring the space between organic musicianship and spatial depth.
Their debut record Finally Home delves greatly into those concepts. Released June 17, 2016, Finally Home exemplifies founding members Adam Berg (Grammy-nominated producer and former member of The Decoders) and Ryan Tanner Bailey (of King Llama) admiration of bands like Zero 7, Tame Impala, Caribou, Portishead, and Phish.
Written over the span of two years and recorded at Manifest Music in Santa Monica, the record showcases the duo’s versatility by simultaneously hitting topics like the implication of self-awareness and how emotional and complex that can be and the ambiguity and uncertainty of government power living in an increasingly police state. Sunset Harbinger is a lavish mix of downtempo electronic music, future soul, psychedelic rock, and epic instrumental jams. The revolving door of featured vocalists fuses the organic musicianship with intimate nuances of downtempo electronica, enhancing the message and emotional undertones of the lyrics.
In the most desirable sense, Finally Home takes the listener through a fantasy realm where you can float into the music and drift wherever the imagination desires with its lavish mix of downtempo electronic music, future soul, psychedelic rock, and epic instrumental jams.
