WICHITA, Kan. – Fort Hays State Women’s Track and Field placed second at the Friends Invitational, held on Friday and Saturday (Apr. 8-9). The Tigers scored 149 points, finishing second only to host school Friends, which scored 216.5 points. A total of 18 women’s teams competed in the meet.
The Tigers had six individual champions at the meet. Kelly Wycoff won the 200 meters with a time of 24.68 seconds. Sophie Dalmasso took first in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:58.76. Micki Krzesinski led a 1-2-3 sweep for the Tigers in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:42.74. Selam Ball took the pole vault in a height of 10 feet, 8 inches. Courtney Geiger won the discus at 121 feet, while Rachael Monteil took the hammer throw at 161 feet, 8 inches.
Grizzly Invitational
Fort Hays State had several javelin throwers compete at the Grizzly Invitational, hosted by Butler (Kan.) Community College. Estefania Lopez won the event with a throw of 153 feet, 4 inches, while Madison Wolf placed second at 152 feet, 11 inches.
Scout Wiebe gave the Tigers a 1-2-3 sweep in the event at the meet and she reached an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. She threw a distance of 141 feet, 11 inches. She now ranks 22nd on the national performance list. Lopez and Wolf continue to rank third and fifth on the list.
