SALINA, Kan. – Fort Hays State Tennis opened the spring portion of its schedule on Wednesday (Mar. 2) at Kansas Wesleyan. The Tigers won 5-4 over the Coyotes for the second time this year and ran their overall record to 5-3. FHSU is on a five-match win streak dating back to the fall portion of its schedule.
The Tigers fell down 2-1 after doubles play, but rallied back to win four of the six singles matches to get the win. Raven Dick at No. 5 singles broke the 4-4 tie with a straight sets win over her opponent, 6-3, 6-2.
At No. 1 singles and No. 6 singles, the Tigers were up big before Kansas Wesleyan players had to retire due to injury. Laura Jimenez-Lendinez won at No. 1 and Taylor Noel won at No. 6. Haley Wiedemann was also victorious in singles, winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.
The No. 3 doubles team of Alina Villalovos and Raven Dick won their doubles match by a score of 8-4.
The Tigers head to Hastings College this Saturday (Mar. 5) for another non-conference dual.
