Tigers say Aloha to Hawaii

“We’re not in Kansas anymore,” is just one phrase the Fort Hays State volleyball team may use as they start their season in paradise, in Hawaii for four matches in the Hawaiian Invitational September 5-8.

Competition starts Thursday, Sept. 5 for a first ever meeting against Chaminade 7 p.m. HT (midnight CT).

On Friday the Tigers have a tall task ahead of them, taking the floor against No. 5 BYU-Hawaii.  The Seariders and Tigers have faced each other before, but not in recent history with the last meeting being in 1991.  BYU-Hawaii holds a 3-0 series lead over Fort Hays.  Match set to start 7:30 p.m. HT (12:30am CT).

Tigers will have two matches on Saturday to end the tournament against Lewis (Noon HT, 5 p.m. CT) and Hawaii Pacific (7 p.m. HT, midnight CT).

Once the tournament has ended, the Tigers will stay on the beaches of Hawaii, and finish their trip against Hawaii-Hilo for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. HT (midnight CT).

You can catch the live stats of all the games, and live audio of most of the games on the Fort Hays State athletic website.

Aside of the start of the volleyball season, the Fort Hays Volleyball team will be able to enjoy the sights and sounds that Hawaii has to offer.  Players and coaches will make trips to such places like the: Pearl Harbor Museum and World War II Monuments, Hawaii Volcano National Park, and more.
