The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a way to transform Dr. King’s life and teachings into community service that helps empower and strengthen local communities.
On January 30th from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm Tigers in Service, CSI and Diversity Affairs are joining together to create an event called Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. This event is an activity to make Valentine’s Day cards which represent all the love that Martin Luther King Jr. had for others. The cards will then be delivered to residents at a retirement home in the Hays community.
This event will be held in the Memorial Union.
Nationally MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President’s national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.
As MLK once said, “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear,” these FHSU organizations couldn’t agree more and can’t wait to spread the love for Valentine’s Day.
The cards made at MLK Day of Service will be delivered on February 10th to Cedar View Assisted Living Center through Tigers In Service.
