Red-Hot Tigers Host No. 5 Lopers in Dual Action Thursday

Fort Hays State Wrestling welcomes No. 5 ranked Nebraska-Kearney to Gross Memorial Coliseum on Thursday (Jan. 21) at 7 pm. The Tigers currently sport a 5-2 (0-1 MIAA) dual meet record and are red-hot of late, winning their last five duals. The Lopers come to Hays with a dual record of 10-2 (1-0 MIAA) and enter with a winning streak of four straight.

The Tigers are led by No. 6 ranked Jon Inman at 184 pounds who has started the season 21-1. Other notables with solid winning records are Adam Ludwin (125) at 15-5, Noah Killip (141) at 10-2, Bradley Little (149) at 12-5, William Homalon (149) at 9-3, and Joey Dozier (157) at 12-8.

Cash Drylie (197), who despite starting the season 2-6, has come back with four straight victories by pin for the Tigers. With those four straight pins, Drylie earned MIAA Wrestler of the Week honors on Tuesday (Jan. 19).

The Lopers bring an experienced group of wrestlers all with winning records on the season. Leading the Lopers are Daniel DeShazer – No. 1 in the nation at 133 pounds, Romero Cotton – No. 1 at 197 pounds, and Connor Bolling – No. 6 at 125 pounds.

The Lopers won the last dual between the teams on January 23, 2015 by the score of 21-14. The Tigers finished the dual strong by winning the final three matches, and two of those three victors are in the probable lineup for Thursday (Inman and Drylie).
