KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State’s Rob Davis was named the MIAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday (Jan. 18). Davis helped FHSU to a pair of wins at home last week over Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma by averaging 30 points per game.
In an 84-74 win over Northeastern State, Davis scored a team-high 24 points and hit four 3-point field goals. On Saturday in a 91-74 win over Central Oklahoma, Davis scored a career-high 36 points and went 8-of-10 from beyond the 3-point line and 13-of-18 overall from the field. The 36 points matched the most scored by a Tiger under head coach Mark Johnson, tying teammate Craig Nicholson who had 36 in a game in 2014. The eight 3-point field goals in a game tied for third-most in school history, just one shy of the school record of nine held by two players. Davis finished 22-of-32 (.688) from the field, 12-of-18 beyond the 3-point line (.667), and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line for the week. He added 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game with his 30-point average.
