On Tuesday evening, the FHSU Greek community, University Activities Board, FHSU Athletics, International Student Services, the President’s Office, along with students and members of the Hays community, celebrated the annual tree lighting ceremony in front of Sheridan Hall and in the Dreiling Lobby with crafts, refreshments, and tractor-drawn hayrack rides while listening to the Dickens Carolers.
The holiday coloring contest pictures were hung on the walls around the lobby for judging and President Martin was spotted enjoying helping some of the children create holiday crafts. Many children of the community and FHSU students enjoyed talking to Santa and taking pictures with Victor E. Tiger in front of the large, gold-laced Christmas tree in the Dreiling Lobby.
Fort Hays freshman Lexie Wasinger said, “I really enjoyed experiencing the tree lighting ceremony at FHSU for the first time. Christmas is my favorite holiday, so it was really special for me to gather with my friends and fellow students to share in the holiday before the semester ends.”
Good news for FHSU students looking for a study-break from upcoming finals, the week will be full of events in anticipation of the holidays.
