Six Score in Double Figures As No. 7 Tigers Cruise Past Sterling 94-45

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State completed a perfect non-conference slate on Saturday evening (Nov. 28) with a 94-45 win over Sterling College. Six scored in double figures for the No. 7 ranked Tigers as they improved to 6-0 overall on the season before starting MIAA play next week.

The Tigers led 50-19 at halftime after shooting 51.2 percent from the field before the break. FHSU finished at 50 percent overall as a team (41-of-82) from the field, scoring all but two points on field goals as it only shot three free throws in the game.

FHSU held Sterling to 34.8 percent shooting and turned the Warriors over 26 times in the game. FHSU has forced at least 20 from the opponent in all six games this season. The Tigers committed just five turnovers as a team in the game. FHSU outscored SC in points off turnovers 33-0.

Paige Lunsford and Beth Bohuslavsky led the Tigers in scoring with 15 points each while Bohuslavsky also led the way in assists with seven. Nikola Kacperska scored 14 points off the bench while Jill Faxon had 12. Taylor Chandler and Chelsea Mason each had 11. Chandler led the team in rebounding with six.

Jessica Princ led Sterling with 14 points and seven rebounds. She was the only Sterling player to reach double figures in scoring.

The Tigers get a solid test on Wednesday (Dec. 2) when Washburn comes to Hays to open MIAA play. Game time is set for 5:30 pm at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
