The Tiger women are coming off their best season in the program’s NCAA Division II history, finishing 30-4 overall last year. The Tigers claimed their first-ever MIAA Championship in women’s basketball and advanced to the Central Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament, just a win shy of the Elite Eight. FHSU finished the year ranked No. 8 in the nation and open this year as the nation’s No. 10 ranked team under the guidance of eighth-year head coach Tony Hobson. FHSU returns four of its top five scorers from last year in Chelsea Mason, Beth Bohuslavsky, Jill Faxon, and Nikola Kacperska. Paige Lunsford is the top returning rebounder.
The Tiger men are coming off another winning season under 15th-year head coach Mark Johnson. Johnson inches closer to the 300-win plateau at FHSU this year and returns his top two scorers from last year, All-American point guard Craig Nicholson and forward Dom Samac. Jake Stoppel, team’s top rebounder, also returns. The Tigers have several new faces on the team this year that look to make an immediate impact.
The Tiger men will be in exhibition action on Friday night (Nov. 6) at Kansas State and Tuesday (Nov. 10) at Kansas. The men open at home on November 14 and 15. The women open their home slate November 20-21.
