SALINA, Kan. – Fort Hays State Men’s Golf had a solid round of competition on Monday (Sept. 28) at the Kansas Wesleyan Invitational in Salina, Kan. The Tigers finished in a tie for second place with host Kansas Wesleyan, trailing only Barton (Kan.) Community College in a 10-team tournament. The Tigers shot their lowest team score of the season with a 293 at the Salina Municipal Golf Course, a par-70 layout.
Fort Hays State shaved 28 strokes off their previous low round as a team this year, a 321, which they shot twice at the NSU Invitational a week ago. Lane Pauls led the way for FHSU with a 2-under 68. He sits in a tie for third place, three shots off the leading pace of 5-under shot by Barton Community College’s Natchapol Srindon. Barton was lights out as a team on Monday, shooting 5-under, with players at 5-under, 3-under, 2-under, and 3-over.
Landon Fox is also in the hunt for medalist honors, just six strokes back of the lead after a 1-over round of 71. Kade Megaffin shot 76 and Koby Beougher and Cash Hobson each shot 78.
The final round of the tournament will be contested on Tuesday.
