The 14th-ranked Fort Hays State men’s soccer team opens the 2015 season on Friday (Sept. 4) in Tahlequah, Okla. Coming off an appearance in the National Quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers return to the field where the 2014 season ended in a 3-2 loss to Quincy University.
The Tigers made their deepest run in the NCAA Tournament last year, knocking off MIAA Champion Northeastern State on its home field in Tahlequah in the round of 16. The Tigers tied the RiverHawks before advancing to the National Quarterfinals by winning a penalty kick shootout 3-2. FHSU led 2-0 in the National Quarterfinal match against Quincy University, only to see that lead slip away in the second half.
FHSU opens 2015 with a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents, Missouri S&T and former MIAA member Truman. The Tigers take on Missouri S&T at 3 pm on Friday before taking on Truman at 11 am on Sunday (Sept. 6). Live stats of the matches will be available in the link FHSU Men’s Soccer Live Stats.
The Tigers finished the 2014 season at 11-6-4 overall and placed second in the MIAA.
