In a press release, Ellis County Attorney Thomas Drees stated that the alleged June 20, 2015 sexual assault on the grounds of Fort Hays State University of a 19 year old female were unfounded. The victim said the incident occurred in the grassy area near the Rarick Hall sign after she left Chuck’s, a local bar at Seventh and Park.

The incident was investigated by members of the Fort Hays State University Police Department as well as the Hays Police Department. After reviewing the Kansas Standard Offense Report from that investigation, Drees determined that the allegation was unfounded.
