Fort Hays State Wrestling had seven student-athletes named to the NWCA Division II All-Academic Team for the 2014-15 season. Earning first team honors were Jon Inman and Trey Page, while Noah Killip earned second team honors. Receiving honorable mention nods were Ethan Dale, Cash Drylie, Jacob Kay, and Jace Nordyke.
To be nominated for the honors, the student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, be in his second full year at the nominating institution, be a varsity member or key reserve, demonstrate a degree of skill and have a minimum of two letters of recommendation submitted on his behalf. The grade point averages of the student-athletes were taken from the end of the Fall 2014 semester.
Inman, a sophomore, and Page, a senior, were both among the top performers nationally on the mat last year. Inman finished the year at 37-8 overall, while qualifying for the NCAA Championships at 184 pounds. He is a Criminal Justice major at FHSU with a 3.83 GPA. Page earned All-America honors by placing third nationally at heavyweight, ending the year at 46-3 overall. He is a History major at FHSU with a 3.10 GPA.
Killip, also an NCAA Championship qualifier for the Tigers at 141 pounds, earned finished his season at 29-7 overall. The junior owns a 3.16 GPA as a Health and Human Performance major.
Dale, a sophomore, finished his season at 8-7 overall, wrestling as a key reserve at 184 pounds. He has a 3.68 GPA as an Economics major. Drylie, a sophomore, went 21-17 overall as the starter at 197 pounds in 2014-15. He owns a 3.01 GPA as a Management major. Kay, a redshirt-freshman, finished the year 10-12 overall, wrestling as a key reserve at 141 pounds at 149 pounds. He owns a 3.14 GPA as a Finance major. Nordyke, a sophomore, finished the year at 4-11 overall while wrestling primarily at 157 pounds. He owns a 3.59 GPA as an Agriculture Business major.
