The Fort Hays State University Sternberg Museum of Natural History will showcase “Titanoboa,” its traveling summer exhibit, for its Friday Night at the Museum event on June 19.
Registration is required by Friday, June 12, for the event, at which dinner will be served.
Tickets are $15 for members and $20 for the general public.
The Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service organized a 15-city tour for the Titanoboa exhibit so that museum visitors across the country could learn about the largest snake that ever lived. Discovered in Colombia, the remains tell scientists that this prehistoric snake was 48 feet long and weighed about 2,500 pounds.
Friday Night at the Museum is held from 6 to 9 p.m. the third Friday of each month and includes dinner and a tour of the museum. There will be no program in July, and August’s theme is “It’s About Time!” and will feature the museum’s “Bringing Fossils to Life” exhibit.
