Hays, Kan. ̶ Mentioning that he “feels a sense of personal responsibility to help restore America to exceptionalism,” Dr. Roger Marshall announced in Hays yesterday that he will be a Republican candidate for Congress in Kansas’ First Congressional District. As an physician, Dr. Marshall devoted his career to helping parents and children start in a position to succeed and now Dr. Marshall says he wants to shift gears and help make certain opportunities available for those parents and children later in life as well.
A native Kansan, Marshall was raised in the country. Farming, cattle-feeder operations, and serving as chairman of Great Bend Regional Hospital are all part of his life experience. A graduate of both Kansas State University and KU Medical School, Marshall recently completed a year as Governor of Rotary International’s District 5670 covering 30 Rotary clubs throughout western Kansas. Marshall has experience coping with Dodd-Frank legislation as board member of local bank providing services in rural Kansas for more than 100 years. In addition, Marshall is a Commissioner of the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism. Marshall and his wife of 32 years, Laina, have four children and recently became grandparents for the first time.
Marshall’s stop in Hays was part of a 17-community announcement tour over four days encompassing over 1,200 miles.
