Tigers face Ichabods Wednesday evening; schedule altered for Lincoln Series

Fort Hays State baseball plays at Washburn on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in Topeka. The teams are playing a single non-conference game at Falley Field. FHSU enters at 15-27 overall, while Washburn is 26-17.
The Tigers won the final game of a four-game series last weekend against Emporia State. The Tigers are still in the hunt for one of eight conference tournament bids, but will have to play well this coming weekend and get help from other teams in the conference if they are going to get in.

The four-game conference series at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., this weekend has been altered. The teams will now play a single game on Saturday (Apr. 25) at 11 am, then a doubleheader Sunday at 1 pm, and another single game on Monday at 12 pm.

Fort Hays State is now the nation’s top team in home runs per game, averaging 1.67 per game. The Tigers are tied for the national lead in total home runs with Wingate, each with 70. Cooper Langley ranks sixth nationally in home runs with 17. Langley also ranks 10th nationally in RBI per game (1.4). Caleb Cherryholmes broke the FHSU single-season record for hit-by-pitch this past weekend and has now been plunked 20 times this year. He leads NCAA Division II in hit-by-pitch per game (0.51).
