Fort Hays State split a pair of non-conference doubleheaders last week at Newman University and Rockhurst University. This is the third-straight non-conference doubleheader the Tigers are playing before facing Nebraska-Kearney in the final conference doubleheader of the season on Friday in Hays.
The Tigers need to break out of an offensive funk that has seen them score two or less runs in seven of their last 10 games. FHSU has a record of just 3-7 in that stretch with only one win in the games it scored two or less. This will be a good week to do so as Friday’s games against Nebraska-Kearney and other conference action will decide which teams get in the conference tournament.
In the circle, the Tigers own the fourth-best team earned run average in the conference (2.95), but have surrendered an average of 3.7 earned runs per game over the last 10 games.
