Fort Hays State University geosciences graduate students will host two sessions with activities explaining Earth’s major mass extinctions in programs developed for both children and adults, Saturday, April 11, at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History.
The afternoon session is from 1 to 3 p.m. with five different stations for a younger audience. Each station will have activities such as games, short videos or presentations. All stations will have a staff member or volunteer to help with and guide the activities.
The evening session is from 7 to 9 p.m. and will have a two-part discussion panel for an older audience. The first half of the panel will give an overview of the current scientific understanding of past and current extinctions, and the second half of the panel will be open for questions. Following the panel there will be a free ice cream social.
There will be activities for children of attending parents in the Discovery Room with Sternberg Museum staff supervision.
