FHSU women leap into USTFCCCA National Rankings at No. 19

Fort Hays State women’s track and field jumped into the USTFCCCA National Team Rankings on Tuesday at No. 19. FHSU had a good showing at the State Farm ESU Relays last week in Emporia, Kan., and currently has four individuals among the top 15 nationally in their respectful events.
The FHSU women currently have three javelin throwers ranked in the top 15 nationally. Estefania Lopez leads the way with the nation’s best effort so far at 169-feet, 7.25-inches.  Madison Wolf is third nationally after a throw of 160-feet, 3-inches that won the Alex Francis Classic two weeks ago in Hays. Both Lopez and Wolf have automatic marks in the event, so they have punched their ticket to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in May. Megan Honas has a provisional mark of 143-feet, 6-inches that she threw at the ESU Relays, which puts her 14th on the national performance list.

Danielle Berry is currently tied for the seventh-best effort in the high jump nationally. She jumped 5-feet, 7-inches at the ESU Relays last week, putting herself in good position on the national performance list at this time.

The Tigers are scheduled to compete next at the KT Woodman Classic, hosted by Wichita State University, in Wichita, April 10-11.
